Rethinking Teaching in Higher Education

This book is unique in that it comes out of the annual Course Design and Teaching Workshop put on by the Centre for University Teaching and Learning (CUTL) at McGill University. The goal of the book, like the workshop, is that by the end of it readers should be able to effectively complete a course syllabus that includes a course description, learning outcomes, instructional strategies, and an assessment plan.

The book provides extensive insight into planning higher education courses and is replete with useful information from diagrams, to charts, to reading lists. However, the book often seems to be tied too closely to the workshop and can read as more of an overview and discussion of the McGill workshop rather than the subject matter being examined.
